It is obtained from used tyres. In the recycling process at Schwalbe's partner Pyrum Innovations the tyres are mechanically processed (shredded) and then recycled in a thermochemical process known as pyrolysis. The carbon black acts as a filler and reinforcing agent in the rubber compound.
